Terms of Service

The rules for using PracticeSpeaking: free and Pro plans, auto-renewal, cancelling anytime, refunds, and what the AI feedback can and can't do.

By using PracticeSpeaking (practicespeaking.app) you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

The service

PracticeSpeaking is an AI English speaking practice tool. You listen to a short passage, retell it out loud, and an AI gives you feedback. Some practice is free; some needs a paid plan, as shown on the Pricing page.

Who can use it

You must be at least 13 years old to use PracticeSpeaking. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.

Your account

  • You need an account for anything beyond the free demo practice. Give a real email and keep your password safe.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • You can delete your account at any time in Settings. Deleting it also cancels any paid plan.

What you may do

  • Use the service for your own personal English practice.
  • Do not abuse it: no scripts or bots, no attempts to get around daily limits or paid access (including deleting and re-creating accounts), no attacks on the service, and no sharing your account with others.
  • Do not upload recordings of other people without their consent, or content that is unlawful.
  • We may limit or suspend accounts that break these rules.

AI-generated feedback

The feedback, scores, suggested phrases, translations and accent results in PracticeSpeaking are generated by AI using third-party AI models, and some practice materials, including audio, are created with the help of AI. They are a study aid, not professional teaching advice, an official assessment or a guarantee of any exam result. AI can make mistakes, so use your own judgment. We process your recordings as described in the Privacy Policy and do not use them to train AI models.

Your content

Your recordings and phrasebook belong to you. You give us permission to process them only to run the service for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. If you share a result card, its contents become visible to anyone with the link until you stop sharing it.

  • Paid plans are sold by Dodo Payments, which acts as the merchant of record: it is the seller in your purchase and handles payment, billing, tax and receipts. Your purchase is also covered by the Dodo Payments buyer terms. Prices are shown in USD on the Pricing page before you pay, and tax may be added at checkout depending on where you live.
  • Automatic renewal: the 3-month plan renews every 3 months and the yearly plan every year, at the price you agreed to, until you cancel. By starting a subscription you authorize these recurring charges. We email you 3 days before each renewal.
  • Cancelling: cancel online at any time in Settings, then Billing. To avoid being charged for the next period, cancel at least 48 hours before your renewal date. After you cancel, you keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for, and nothing more is charged.
  • Price changes: if we change a price, we tell you before it applies, and it never applies to a period you already paid for.
  • Failed payments: if a renewal payment fails, Pro may pause until the payment goes through.

Refunds

Refunds are handled by Dodo Payments under its buyer terms and are decided case by case. Time already started in a subscription period is not refunded, so cancelling stops future charges but does not refund the current period. If you were charged by mistake, for example twice for the same plan, contact us at /contact and we will help you get it fixed.

Availability and changes

We work to keep the service running, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change features, lessons and limits over time.

Liability

The service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid for PracticeSpeaking in the 12 months before it.

Termination

You can stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or end accounts that break these terms.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and, for big changes, tell signed-in users by email.
