About PracticeSpeaking
An English speaking practice app built on retelling: a story gives you what to say, and you build every sentence yourself.
You understand English. You can follow a film and read the news. Then someone asks you a simple question, and the words that were right there a second ago are gone.
Why we built it
We know that moment well. We tried chatting with AI partners and froze every time it was our turn. We tried repeat-after-me drills and could say other people’s sentences, never our own.
Months in, we still couldn’t tell whether we were getting better. A score or a “good job” never showed which sentence was off, or how a native speaker would have put it.
Retelling takes that problem away. A short story gives you something to say, so all your effort goes into saying it. You hear how a native speaker put it, you say it your way, and your second take usually comes out better. Seeing that on the same day is what brings you back tomorrow.
And it all happens in private. Practicing out loud means letting someone hear you get it wrong, so your recordings are used only to give you feedback: we don’t keep them, they never train AI, and nothing goes public unless you share it.
You don’t run out of English. You run out of things to say.
